May marks a dedicated month in celebrating Asian American heritage. The reason for celebrating in May is because of two significant dates May 7th and May 10th. On May 7, 1843 the first Japanese immigrants arrived to the United States. On May 10, 1869 known as the Golden Spike Day, was the day of the first transcontinental railroad was completed which large amounts of Chinese immigrants took part of. Now in 2022 and in spite of the pandemic Asians are taking a stand to go against racism and hate that they have been facing since the origin of their immigration. Let’s remember the contributions that Asians have contributed to art, science, literature, and more to the world. Decades later now we celebrate AAPI month with Asians and Americans all around the country!
